Belle with Her Litter of 12 Pups

Great Pyrenees are among a group of breeds developed to be livestock guardians, living with their herds (tending) day and night to provide protection from predators. Great Pyrenees are known for being friendly to humans (when socialized) while still being tough on predators. For us, this is just what we need with farm visitors coming and going. We have three of these giant dogs—Barks (120 lbs) and Belle (90 lbs), and their pup Bert (110 lbs).  After 3 litters, Belle has been retired from puppy making, so no puppies are expected in the future.
